turkish pop meets czech new wave meets … texas
April 2nd, 2008 by alexisadrienne, lee, sally and i met up in austin, tx, put on some dresses and broke out the camera.
we found out after we made this that (according to the internet) the title of this cem karaca song means something like “my woman’s virginity makes me troubled”.
so. there’s that.
I saw a show yesterday about Charles Manson at the Spawn Ranch with his “Family”…and I think their stay there deeply resembled your fabulous Czechoslovakian/Texas/Turkish uh, dance (though their access to such colorful inner tubes was probably minimal).

this is quite actually my favorite thing in the universe. HOLY SHIT GUYS THIS IS AMAZING.
i love the cuts, and juxtaposition of effects, and the lighthearted feel, and the way that content is revealed, and the czech new wave throwbacks (all i could was Svenksvenksvenk), and the contrasty super-8 feel… wow. and the soundtrack is kick ass too!

I enjoyed this video. You people did a very good job. Rarely do I experience distinct pleasure watching music videos; watching this was very pleasant. All of you look, to me, like Austrian universitat madchen with pending degrees in painting which you’ll no doubt let go by dropping out in order to make music videos a lot like this one but for their more frequent allusions to Egon Schiele. Part of the reason I liked this video is because it reminded me of Austria. I had not expected Texas to ever do that.
