GIs take Manhattan: Operation First Casualty
May 29th, 2007 by elliott
The adage “in war, truth is the first casualty” is generally attributed to the ancient Greek playwrite Aeschylus, and the words still ring true a few millenia later.
Over Memorial Day weekend 2007, members of Iraq Veterans Against the War revived Aeschylus’ saying with Operation First Casualty. Simulating sniper fire and mass detentions on the streets of Manhattan, these antiwar veterans brought home a small piece of the Iraq War, and the meerkats were there to film it.

Thanks Meerkat! This is a great piece! I’m sending it to our network.
Peace,
Jose

Meercat,
Now we’ve all got an extra reason to be grateful to you for showing us this.
Guess what? It’s now been “withdrawn” from Youtube.

To our knowledge, none of the videos has been taken down thus far. If you know of any censorship occuring, could you give specifics? We would be very interested to see who is taking our stuff down!
Thanks everyone!
