The adage “in war, truth is the first casualty” is generally attributed to the ancient Greek playwright Aeschylus, and the words still ring true a few millenia later.
Over Memorial Day weekend 2007, members of Iraq Veterans Against the War revived Aeschylus’ saying with Operation First Casualty. Simulating sniper fire and mass detentions on the streets of Manhattan, these antiwar veterans brought home a small piece of the Iraq War, and the meerkats were there to film it.
